December was an interesting month for me, if not on a personal level, but for Link's development. A LOT of side animations were knocked out so that they'd no longer get in the way of trying to get Link's animation count completed on a normal pace. With that in mind, Link's amount of animations have increased dramatically. The most exciting part of it is that, Link's final victory and intro animations are totally complete. What a relief. Those alone took 3 times longer than any other character I've ever done.
Even with those out of the way, I still had a good amount of Midna animations I still needed to do, and those came next. I completed five of them, and three more where Link is involved, including his wolf transformation. I won't be able to make wolf Link fully playable with normal Link due to the constraints of Mugen's capabilities, but I can still use it for a possible third intro or a throw attack. Regardless, I needed to make it just in case I needed to have it. And it is a big part of the character. After that, I spent the last week of December making some basic attack animations for Link. I made the minimum required amount of crouching attacks, and 2 jump attacks. I also completed his roll attack which I showed to some folks in Mugen. It was pretty well received haha.
This morning, 1/1/2023, I completed Link's 3rd jump attack, so for the rest of January, I'm going to tackle the basic standing attacks. I want to also make a differet jump and crouch attack per button instead of two buttons sharing the same animation, but we'll see how that goes. Link went from 65% to 76%. I'm expecting Link's animations to be finished sometime in January, but it's hard to realize it still. I can't believe I'm finally nearing the end of this.
