Usually I do these only once a month but I'm at a big checkpoint with Auron as of today. Only 6 animations required of him remain. That being said, I anticipate that these last 6 are so massive, it will take at least one week per animation to do. The remaining animations are the 4 overdrives (shooting star, banishing blade, dragonfang and tornado), as well as his sinspawn assist special and his hyper, which is Sin showing up for its own hyper beam.
When I do eventually finish all of these animations, I will have the option to go back and add in a couple more animations. I was thinking of adding Tidus in as another intro where he's annoying Auron, a third outro where he does his quiet laugh, and another hyper where Braska's Final Aeon comes out for a swing. But... probably not. I'd more likely make Braska's Final Aeon his own character as a boss-styled character MVC2 style like Galactus or Apokalypse.
I need to ignore the fact that I'm only six animations away because until I finish the sinspawn helper animations and Sin's palette, the temptation to jump the gun and go straight into paletting and setting up Fighter Factory Auron files will only grow more irresistible. It's entrancing just because, I am admittedly really tired of working on Auron... specifically his sprites. Even the quick ones I make of him are about 2.5 hours out of my day. And I have a lot more to make for the unique animations of his up-coming overdrives. That being said, I still won't stop prematurely, or get lazy. But it is daunting. Aside from all of that, I hope he'll be enjoyable, a threat, and appreciated. It's one thing to say, "He took a long time on this project. Give him some credit," and, "this character is amazing!!! What's NEXT!?" I'm not saying I want to stop making characters. IN fact I felt this way with Raven, and she was quick. I hope that I'll be able to make characters in the future, but it all depends on how busy I'll be this year.
